Dear Messrs. Schatz, Murphy, Schumer, and yr esteemed colleagues.

Today, I am writing to you in regards to a piece of quality journalism that crossed my highly curated Facebook stream. This stunning Buzzfeed expose reports that you were publicly conflicted on whether or not to retweet — i.e., share with your Twitter followers — a video created by one Ms. Cardi B.

Your hesitance is understandable. While I am not familiar with the bulk of Ms. B’s opus, I have gleaned though excerpts of the video that the language is not — as you would call, senatorial, thus leading you not to share the video.

First and foremost, I would be remiss if I were not to remind you of the words of our late and beloved friend, Master George Carlin, on the subject of “unsenatorial” language.

While some of his comments are, alas, dated in the perspective and belief of contemporary viewers, there is a glistening of truth to be found: There are no “good words” and “bad words” — it merely depends on the context of the word when it’s being used.

So, what, pray tell, is the context of Ms. B’s words that you are so hesitant to…
