A couple of days ago, my computer ate shit.

I’d had it for around five years, and it already wasn’t the greatest machine in the world. A $150 Wal-Mart special, which was a lot of money for me at the time. Hell, it’s still a lot of money for me now. It served me amazingly well, and she’s earned her final rest. To Valhalla shall she go.

This wouldn’t have been a huge problem, except my back-up, a two year-old Amazon $129.99 special that could barely run one thing at a time, also decided that it would crap out on me. It couldn’t even open Chrome without freezing, let alone do anything else. I spent a whole day trying to fix it. And then I reimaged it. And then I tried to fix it some more. After that, I finally gave up.

During that time, I could hear my parents and grandma in my head, all of them telling me the same thing: “you’re too damn addicted to that computer.”

That’s something that I heard a lot. I spent my late elementary school years, listening to P!nk and Avril Lavigne, hanging around on AOL and playing Nickelodeon's crappy flash games — when I wasn’t playing some sort of Pokemon game on a GameBoy. I spent my teen and early tween years on…
