Five Food Cravings I Had in the Hospital
Spending nearly two weeks in the hospital is hard on anybody’s palate.
Not that the food is terrible per se. Nor do I doubt that it was made with love by the ladies and gents and non-binary folks in the hairnets. But it’s hospital food. It’s lacking love. And spice.
And when you’re too tired to listen to the Food and Nutrition read through your options every day, you end up getting a lot of the same thing. In my case: cheese omelette, some kind of sandwich, meat loaf and mashed potatoes.
But while I had the hospital food, I developed some mighty cravings.
#1 A Taco Bell Quesorito (ground beef, the hottest hot sauce)
This is, perhaps, the most shameful of the list.
For the uninitiated, a quesorito is basically a burrito, but instead of wrapping it with a single flour tortilla, it’s wrapped in a quesadilla.
It’s like the ultimate fat person food-of-shame. I once walked out of an appointment with my cardiologist, noticed there was a Taco Bell across the street, and ordered two of these puppies, which I sat and ate in the parking lot before I drove home.
It’s shameful and sad, but my body was asking for it.
