Five Resources for New Poets

Some tools to help you learn the craft.

Poetry is hard. Take it from somebody who’s been writing it for nearly half their life so far.

But, on the other hand, poetry is incredibly freeing if you just don’t give a damn about what you’re doing. Once you start caring more about how you express yourself and less about what other people think about it, you’ll grow remarkably.

That said, if you’re anything like me, you’re still going to want to do poetry right. You’re going to feel a desire to learn more about the art, to stretch your wings, to try different things, to innovate, to learn the rules and the bounds of the art.

So, with that in mind, I thought to put together a list of helpful resources, different resources for aspiring poets to explore and to, hopefully, learn more.

#1. Poets on Medium Facebook group.

One of the wonderful things about Medium is that it has a great community of supportive poets, who are willing to cheer along.
