Margie’s Barbie
An Obviously Serious Poem

after Margie Pearl
Our Barbie swam in acetone
and died a million deaths;
her face, once here, is scary gone–
she never took a breath.
We ripped her seams and painted eyes
a multitude of hues;
and threw her hard against the wall:
no, she could never bruise.
