My problem with state government is that we’re no longer living in 1742, where it takes months or years to get from one state to another. People can travel through — and live — in multiple states throughout their lives. And each time they have to deal with residency headaches, DMV headaches, Medicaid headaches.

We need this stuff to be centralized. We need it to be digitalized. We also need all of the states to be on the same page. This means getting rid of the racist confederacy nonsense in the South. Too many states embrace being anti-progress, anti-common sense, anti-woman, anti-queer, and so on.

If every state was more like California or New York, I’d love to see stronger state governments. But most of them are trash.
