The Perks of Selling Out

Simply put: Money is nice.

I’ve been binge watching E.R. on Hulu for the last few weeks. And, because it’s the Hulu that I get with my Spotify membership, I get a lot of commercials.

Being a mid-to-late generation millennial, there are few things I hate more than commercials. But, because I don’t want to spring for the extra $15 or whatever a month to get a separate Hulu account, I suffer through them.

Anyway, there are two commercials that keep popping up that are currently pissing me off.

(Well, there’s a third: I live in Western Pennsylvania, but something in the metadata keeps telling the spy network that I live in Ohio, so I keep getting these Denial, Ohio anti-Opiate commercials that are corny as trash. But I digress.)

One of them is the Applebees commercial, featuring Pat Benatar’s, and one of them is an add for some horrible generic HR/employment workplace app, featuring Joan Jett’s music.

I am not a child of the 80’s. I’m not even one of those people who grew up wishing they were a child of the 80’s. However, I am a child of a child of the 80’s. And, on what I convince myself is my mother’s behalf (I’m sure she doesn’t give a shit.) I am outraged at these power girls selling out.
