The Thing Is, You’ve Got to Love Writing

Otherwise, this whole thing is a nightmare.

I’ve been writing on Medium, on and off, since November 2016. My first post was about how I was afraid of NaNoWriMo.

Yeah, it’s been a while. Longer than a whole bunch of people, but not as long as some. Funny how that happens. But I was here before we were getting paid for it, before there was anything such as curation, before the whole system exploded.

And, honestly, I’ll probably be here until Medium closes.

I like this platform.

I’ve tried making blogs before. Tumblr, Wordpress, Blogger, just about every system that’s ever been out there. But there’s something about Medium that was almost immediately different.

First, it functions as a social media platform. That is, it’s interconnected with other people. I can follow them and they can follow me, without having to set up some kind of external RSS system.

I’ve had to do it before, and it’s really not fun. Going to everybody’s blog, trying to find their RSS stream, and trying to add it to some external program, only to have to do it all over again when I have to wipe my computer, or something else happens.
