Today started with a very nice live-chat (part of Shaunta’s The Astonishing Maybe preorder perks) with her editor at Feiwel and Friends, Liz Szabla.

We spent well over an hour chatting with Liz about the various elements of being a book editor, including a great look on how the acquisitions process happens (that is, how a book goes from an agent sending it to an editor, to the editor offering a contract/book deal). There’s a lot that goes into it, more than whether or not the editor loves the book!

Liz is awesome and, frankly, now I want her to buy my books. Someday!

After that, since I’d already written my Medium post the night before, I shared out the links to Facebook and Twitter, and I started reading a few dozen Medium posts (interesting looking ones from the Facebook group as well as the people I follow).

While I did this, I listened to the Be More Chill Original Broadway Cast Recording. It is fucking amazing. Like, the Original Cast Recording was stellar, but this new recording had so many fresh changes to the recording, as well as inserting contextual dialogue, which made me understand the show a bit better (since getting to see it . . . probably won’t happen).
