You’re right — you will never, ever please the pedants and the haters. There are some people who live for the glee of correcting other people. So, whatever. *shrugs*

Short paragraphs can be difficult — It’s something I learned mainly through writing and editing for the newspaper. Big paragraphs really don’t work well in small columns of text. It’s a stylistic thing — and Victor Hugo’s page-long paragraphs don’t make Les Miserables any worse for the wear. :) You’ll get there.
